Bloomerang

Connect Fundraise Up to your workflow with Bloomerang integration.

Bloomerang is a donor management platform that focuses on relationship tracking and retention analytics. Use this integration to sync your Fundraise Up donation data with Bloomerang.

How the integration works

Link copied

The integration works by sending donation data automatically from Fundraise Up to your Bloomerang account whenever someone makes a donation. This happens in real time — as soon as a donation succeeds in Fundraise Up, the information gets sent to Bloomerang.

The integration only sends successful donations. Failed or pending donations stay in Fundraise Up and don't transfer to Bloomerang.

You control when this syncing starts. When you first connect the integration, it starts paused so you can configure your settings. Once you enable automatic sync, all new donations will create records in Bloomerang without any manual work from you.

Limitations

Link copied

Because this integration uses Bloomerang's API, there are some limitations with how certain data gets handled:

  • Bloomerang does not have a daily frequency option for . Daily recurring plans from Fundraise Up will appear as one-time donations in Bloomerang.
  • Bloomerang cannot process donations set to recur every 4 weeks. These will be adjusted to "Monthly" in Bloomerang.
  • Bloomerang's API does not allow us to change the dates of recurring donations. When a recurring plan changes, the "next payment" date in Bloomerang may not match the actual installment date in Fundraise Up.

Standard records and fields

While you can customize many aspects of the integration, we always create certain records and populate certain fields to meet Bloomerang's data standards.

Transactions

The following records are created in the CRM, depending on the donation type (one-time or recurring):

  • Donation: Created for one-time donations.
  • Recurring Donation Schedule: Represents the recurring donation plan.
  • Recurring Donation Payment: Created for each payment in a recurring plan.

For all transaction types above, we populate the amount field, date field, and created date field. The amount is recorded in your account's default currency.

Constituents

To decide whether to create a new constituent or add donations to an existing one, we follow Bloomerang's merge criteria. This process involves checking for duplicates by matching the First Name and Last Name with at least one contact detail (address, email, or phone). If a match is found, the incoming data is merged with that of the existing constituent. If not, a new constituent is created.

Bloomerang does not use the Informal Name, Formal Name, Envelope Name, or Recognition Name to match constituents.

During the checkout process, we collect all available information for:

  • Email Address.
  • First Name.
  • Last Name.
  • Address.
  • Home Phone.

Foreign currencies

Your Fundraise Up and Bloomerang accounts must use the same currency. If they don't match, donation amounts will be incorrect in Bloomerang.

Your Fundraise Up account currency is determined by your Stripe account's base currency. Check your Stripe dashboard to see your current currency setting.

When currencies match correctly, the integration handles multi-currency donations automatically:

  • Donations in your account's base currency (for example, USD) are recorded in USD.
  • Donations in other currencies (for example, GBP) are converted to your base currency and recorded as the equivalent amount in USD.
If your Fundraise Up and Bloomerang accounts use different currencies, donation amounts will be incorrect in Bloomerang. For example, if your Fundraise Up account uses GBP but Bloomerang expects USD, a 20.90 GBP donation would incorrectly appear as 20.90 USD in Bloomerang.

General settings control basic sync behavior. The default settings work for most organizations, but you can adjust them to match your needs.

  • Sync test data: Check this option if you want test mode donations to appear in Bloomerang. Use this to verify that your mapping rules work correctly before processing live donations.
  • Update "Has been acknowledged" if thank you email has been sent by Fundraise Up: Check this option if you want Bloomerang to automatically mark donations as "acknowledged" when Fundraise Up sends thank-you emails to supporters.
  • Create a constituent if a donation is made on behalf of an organization: If checked, when someone donates on behalf of a company, the integration will look for or create a Constituent of type "Organization" in Bloomerang. The organization name will be stored in the FullName field.
  • Default fund (required): Select a default fund in Bloomerang for donations when no specific fund is chosen. This is typically the Unrestricted fund.
  • Default campaign (optional): Select a default campaign to automatically link all donations to a specific Bloomerang campaign. Leave blank if you don't want automatic campaign linking.
  • Default appeal (optional): Select a default appeal to automatically link all donations to a specific Bloomerang appeal. Leave blank if you don't want automatic appeal linking.
  • Default comment (optional): Use this to capture additional data from Fundraise Up that Bloomerang doesn't track. Examples include supporter location, information, or original currency. Use the tag button to include your data points.

Set up mapping rules

The Special rules tab lets you set conditions for how data is synced between Fundraise Up and Bloomerang. These special rules use "if/then" logic: If X happens in Fundraise Up, map the value as Y in Bloomerang.

Special rules override your mapping rules and allow more specific mappings. For example:

  • If Campaign equals "Giving Tuesday" → set Bloomerang Fund to "Special Giving Days"
  • If Designation equals "Emergency Relief" → set Bloomerang Campaign to "Disaster Response"

After completing your setup, you can choose how you want data to sync — automatically for real-time updates or manually for more control over the process. Use automatic sync when you want all new donations to transfer to Bloomerang without any action from you. Use manual sync to import past donations and supporter data, or to update records after changing your mappings.

Sync settings

Find sync controls at the bottom of the Bloomerang integration page in your Dashboard. These settings determine how and when data is transferred to Bloomerang.

Automatic sync

  • By default, automatic sync is disabled when you first connect to let you configure settings before data transfers begin.
  • Click Enable automatic sync once your settings and mapping rules are finalized.
  • New donations will sync to Bloomerang in real time.
  • We recommend using automatic sync for most organizations.

Manual sync

Use manual sync when you need more control over when data transfers:

  • Sync specific date ranges or your entire donation history.
  • Update records in Bloomerang after making changes in Fundraise Up.
  • Test your integration settings with controlled data transfers.
  • Make bulk corrections after updating mapping rules.

Click Start manual sync to begin. You can choose from these sync options:

  • Unsynced live donations: Includes live donations with synchronization issues (such as failed sync attempts) and donations that haven't been synchronized before.
  • All live donations: Synchronizes all live donations regardless of their current synchronization status. Use this to re-sync previously imported records or ensure all data is current.
  • All test donations: Synchronizes all test donations (only available if you have Sync test data enabled).

You can also select a specific date range for your sync. Once you click Start sync, the process begins. Refresh the page and scroll down to see progress and results of your manual sync.

The sync log provides a record of sync activity and status for each attempt.

To access the sync log:

  1. Scroll to the Synced donations section.
  2. Review the history of sync attempts, their status, and any error messages.

Each entry shows:

  • When the sync occurred.
  • Which records were processed.
  • Success or failure status.
  • Button to resync individual records if needed.

If errors occur, the sync log provides details to help troubleshoot the issue.

Disconnect the integration

The Bloomerang integration can be disconnected at any time. If the same Bloomerang account is reconnected later, all previously configured settings and mappings are preserved.

To disconnect:

  1. Scroll to the bottom of the integration page.
  2. Click Disconnect.

Disconnecting stops all data syncing. Reconnecting keeps your previous settings, but past data won't sync automatically.

Troubleshooting

If you have problems with the Bloomerang integration, try these common solutions:

  • Currency doesn't match. Make sure both your Fundraise Up and Bloomerang accounts use the same currency. If they don't match, contact Bloomerang support to change your account currency.
  • Donations not syncing. Check the sync log for error messages about failed transfers. You can retry individual failed donations using manual sync.
  • Invalid mapping references. Check your mapping rules and special rules to make sure they reference valid Bloomerang fields, campaigns, and funds. Wrong references cause sync failures.
  • Recurring donations look different. Bloomerang's API has limitations for recurring donations. Daily and "every 4 weeks" schedules may appear differently in Bloomerang than in Fundraise Up.

For ongoing problems or complex errors, contact Fundraise Up support with your sync log details.
